Aha. The quintessential “about me”. Well, here goes!
I was born in Bangalore on the night of the 16th of April, 1987. It was a Thursday for those who are wondering. I don’t remember much of my first 2-3 years except this one incident when I cried for hours to get my hands on my parents’ b&w camera! The aftermath of my parents’ submission into giving me the camera shall not be discussed and I can only say R.I.P. old camera. That was my first brush with creativity.
I moved around India quite a bit from 1990 onwards. We were in Saharanpur for 4 years, then back in Bangalore for another 6, and then Calcutta for another 4, and now back in Bangalore since 2006. I started my schooling in PP School Saharanpur, then to FAPS, Bangalore and finally finished up at La Martiniere, Calcutta. Each school has a share of its great memories but my 4 years at La Martiniere were by far the most formative in my life. I have been learning to play the piano for as long as I remember and I can proudly say that I have achieved a high level (although I hardly play anymore).
I then left for my engineering to Manipal. As cliched as it may sound, I had the best 4 years of my life there. Hostel life was something completely unexperienced before and I totally loved it. Made a great set of friends over the last 4 years and now most of them are working in Bangalore. During the last 2 years, I spent a lot of my time on the computer working as a freelance graphic designer. I found a lot of clients all over the world thanks to a couple of old friends.
In my final semester, I had applied for my MS in the US. In April 2008 I got accepted into Cornell University. After about 2 months of contemplation as to whether I should take it up or pursue my dream, I decided to drop it and go headlong into design. Joined a product design studio in Bangalore and been here for the last 2 years. I also co founded locomi – the local search and discovery service for social networks. I love design and also love talking about it. I do products, retail, graphics, user interface, web and branding. Welcome to the present.
